Activity 2B is practice for construction of angles with measures that are a sum, difference, or multiple of the measures of given angles.

 

Prerequisite Skill: Construct congruent angles (Activity 2A).

 

How to construct adjacent angles to make an angle with a measure that is the sum of the measures of two given angles with a compass and straightedge:

 

(Do problem 1 by following the steps below)

 

1.  Use the congruent angle construction to construct an angle at A that is congruent to <C.

 

2.  Use the congruent angle construction to construct an angle adjacent to that angle at A that is congruent to <B

 

3.  The non-common sides of the adjacent angles with vertex A are the sides of the angle with a measure that is the sum of the measures of <B

      and <C.
