About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 10.23:                 

 

Assignment 10.23 is an introduction to the theorem about the lengths of segments of intersecting secants and tangents.

 

Prerequisite Skills:  Measure lengths to the nearest cm (Assignment 1.11).  Identify arcs intercepted by inscribed angles (Assignment 10.10).  Solve algebraic equations with one variable.

 

Theorem:  For an intersecting tangent and secant, the length of the tangent segment squared is equal to the product of the lengths of the secant segment and its exterior segment.
