Assignment 6.16 is an introduction to proofs for similar triangles with a pair of parallel sides..

 

Prerequisite Skills:  Identify and name pairs of congruent alternate interior angles and corresponding angles determined by parallel lines (Assignment 4.10).  Write proofs for similar triangles (Assignment 6.15). 

 

Theorems:  If two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal, then the alternate interior angles are congruent.

                          If two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal, then the corresponding angles are congruent.
