About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 6.9:

Assignment 6.9 is an introduction to the scale factor for similar polygons.

Prerequisite Skills:  Write ratios and simplify fractions (Assignment 6.1).  Solve proportions (Assignment 6.2).  Identify and write ratios of corresponding side lengths in dilations (Assignment 6.7).

Definitions:  The scale factor of similar polygons is the ratio of the lengths of a pair of corresponding sides of the polygons.

The scale factor of a dilation is the ratio of the distances from the center of the dilation to each point in the image and to the corresponding point in the

                          preimage.
