About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 1.16:

 

Assignment 1.16 is an introduction to midpoints and bisectors of line segments.

 

Prerequisite Skills: Name points, lines, and line segments (Assignments 1.1 and 1.12).  Add and subtract line segment lengths (Assignment 1.13).  Identify congruent line segments (Assignment 1.15).  

 

Definitions:  The midpoint of a line segment is a point on the line segment that divides the line segment into two congruent line segments.

                           A bisector of a line segment intersects the line segment at its midpoint.

 

Postulate:  A line segment has exactly one midpoint.
