Assignment 8.2 is an introduction to areas of congruent polygons and calculating areas using addition and subtraction of polygon areas.

 

Prerequisite Skills:  Identify congruent polygons using the congruence symbol (Assignment 5.1).  Measure areas of polygons (Assignment 8.1).

 

Theorems:  Congruent polygons have equal areas. 

                           For two plane figures A and B, if area A - a and area B = b, then area A + area B = a + b.
