About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 8.3:

Assignment 8.3 is a review of areas of rectangles including squares.

Prerequisite Skills:  Find areas of polygons by counting squares in their interiors (Assignment 8.1).  Measure lengths to the nearest .5 cm. (Assignment 1.11).  Solve algebraic equations with one variable.

Theorems:  The area of a rectangle is the product of the length of its base and its height.

The formula for the area of a rectangle is:  A = bh  (A is Area; b is the length of the base; h is the height)

The area of a square is the length of a side to the second power.

                                                                                                   2

The formulafor the area of a square is:  A = s      (A is Area;  s is the length of a side)
