About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 8.20:

Assignment 8.20 is an introduction to surface area of pyramids.

Prerequisite Skills:  Find areas of squares (Assignment 8.3).  Find areas of triangles (Assignment 8.6).  Find areas of regular polygons (Assignment 8.9).  Find perimeter of polygons (Assignment 3.2).  Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find slant heights of regular pyramids (Assignment 8.19).

 Theorem:   A formula for the surface area of a regular pyramid is: S = B +   2  p l

(S is Surface Area; B and p are the area and perimeter of the base; l is the slant height)
