About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 2.14:
Assignment 2.14 is an introduction to transversals and pairs of angles determined by transversals.
Prerequisite Skills: Name lines (Assignment 1.1). Name angles (Assignment 2.4).
Definitions: A transversal is a line that intersects two lines in a plane.
For two lines intersected by a transversal:
An Interior angle is an angle in which the vertex is one intersection and the other intersection lies on one of its sides.
Alternate interior angles are a pair of interior angles that are on opposite sides of the transversal and are not a linear pair.
Corresponding angles are a pair of angles on the same side of the transversal that are not a linear pair and exactly one of the angles is an interior
angle.
Same side interior angles are interior angles on the same side of the transversal.
