Assignment 3.17 is an introduction to points of concurrency in triangles.

 

Prerequisite Skills: Name perpendicular bisectors (Assignment 2.17).  Name angle bisectors (Assignment 2.15).  Name medians in triangles (Assignment 3.15).

 

Theorem:  The perpendicular bisectors of the sides of a triangle are concurrent.  

Definition:  The point of concurrency is the circumcenter.    

 

Theorem:  The bisectors of the angles of a triangle are concurrent.  

Definition:  The point of concurrency is the incenter.  

 

Theorem:  The medians of a triangle are concurrent.  

Definition:  The point of concurrency is the centroid.
