About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 3.18:

Assignment 3.18 is an introduction to classification of quadrilaterals by parallel sides.

Prerequisite Skills: Name sides of polygons (Assignment 3.1).  Name angles (Assignmentt 2.4).  Identify parallel line segments (Assignment 1.6).

Definitions:  A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides is a trapezoid.  The parallel sides of a trapezoid are the bases.  The non-parallel sides are

the legs.  Pairs of angles with vertices at the endpoints of a base are base angles.

A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides is a parallelogram.
