The Triangle Inequality
Objectives
Develop and apply a theorem to determine whether three numbers are the lengths of sides of a triangle.
Given the lengths of two sides of a triangle, find the range of lengths for the third side.
About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 4.19:
Assignment 4.19 is an introduction to the triangle inequality theorem.
Prerequisite Skills: Measure sides of triangles (Assignment 1.11). Verify inequalities containing the < and > signs.
Theorems: The sum of the lengths of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the length of the third side.
