About Geometry Worksheet Assignment 3.3:
Assignment 3.3 is an introduction to classifications of polygons.
Prerequisite Skills: Identify pairs of congruent line segments (Assignment 1.15). Identify pairs of congruent angles (Assignment 2.8).
Definitions: A polygon with no diagonals or with all diagonals in its interior is convex. A polygon with at least one diagonal in its exterior in its interior is concave.
Polygons classified by the number of sides are: triangle (3 sides), quadrilateral (4 sides), pentagon (5 sides), hexagon (6 sides),
heptagon (7 sides), octagon (8 sides), nonagon (9 sides), decagon (10 sides), dodecagon (12 sides)
A polygon with all sides congruent is equilateral. A polygon with all angles congruent is equiangular.
A polygon that is equilateral and equiangular is regular.
